BYkids: Their World, Their Films
We’re putting the power of filmmaking in the hands of the next generation.
Each screening of Power of the River in 2018 is supporting, in part, the completion of a new film directed by 15-year-old Rinzin Jurme, mentored by award-winning photojournalist Sacha Dean Biyan. Rinzin’s production is the latest film from BYkids, a non-profit organization connecting kids worldwide with the filmmaking skills and mentors to share their stories with millions. Power of the River‘s producer Greg I. Hamilton has pledged $2 from every ticket sold and 20% of sponsorships and donations from the film’s 2018 tour to help fund post production of Rinzin’s film.
BYkids helps kids around the world make personal documentaries about their lives, pertaining to globally relevant issues. We send well-known documentary filmmakers to kids around the world as mentors to help the kids tell their own story. The resulting films spark cross-cultural conversations, helping inspire global citizenry and empathy. BYkids films and curricula reach over 100 million people in classrooms and living rooms across America. For more info, please visit: BYkids.org
